Skype therapy

Therapy accessible to you

Our speech and language therapists are able to provide a range of therapy programmes over Skype. This will involve an appointment made for a time to suit you. One of our speech therapists will then contact you over Skype for a video call. After an assessment, a therapy programme suitable for you will be created, if the therapy is appropriate for Skype, this will be given as an option to you.

If you decide that Skype therapy will be more beneficial or appropriate for you instead of a home visit, then we will be able to provide this.

What will Skype therapy involve?

Therapy over Skype can be provided for multiple treatment programmes, including:

• Lee Silverman Voice Treatment
• Voice therapy
• Articulation therapy
• Accent softening
• British accent
• Voice masculinisation
• Voice feminisation
• Elocution training
• Presentation skills

An initial consultation will be arranged over Skype so that the speech therapist will be able to discuss whether Skype therapy will be beneficial to you. Skype therapy will then last the length of time of the specific treatment programme or for the length of time that each patient requires.

Skype therapy will not be appropriate for those who need physical therapy e.g. swallowing therapy, or who have limited access to internet and limited knowledge of technology.

Who can benefit from Skype therapy?

Anyone can benefit from Skype therapy, particularly those who feel they will not be able to fully access our home services. Skype therapy may benefit those with:

• Dysarthria
• Voice problems
• Speech disorders
• Communication problems
• Mental health problems
